Diselectric Characterisation of Foamed Concrete for Density and Compressive Strength Evaluation

This thesis reports on the dielectric characterization of the lightweight foamed concrete and the relation of the three variables: density, dielectric constant, and compressive strength. The mathematical model used for the dielectric characterization of the concrete is Jonscher model and the goodness of fit of this model with the measurement is high with the R-square value reaching as high as 0.9 and above. The relationship between density and dielectric constant is simple linear equation. On the other hand, the mathematical relation between density with compressive strength and dielectric constant with compressive strength show a power-law relation with the power value reaching 3.89 and 2.4 respectively. It should worth noting that this is a cursory study for its related field and further exploration should focus on the development in the variety of mathematical models that could be used in the dielectric constant conversion as the model used in this study is capacitance model only. In addition, the software or programming of the instrument could also be improved with the transferring of control to computer. Lastly, the other structural variables of lightweight foamed concrete could be included in the analysis.

LONGI Solar Cell Manufacturing Plant Phase 3 SCADA Development

Creation of SCADA for the Gas Detectors System (GDS), Gas Management System (GMS), and Chemical Management System (CMS) with the use of Wonderware Intouch 2017. The GDS and GMS are build into one SCADA program while CMS is build as its own SCADA program and host on its own Local PC.

GDS consists of graphical display for all the gas detectors (Honeywell Midas) and data logging for all its process values. On the other hand, GMS displays all the information obtained from the equipment Valve Manifold Box (VMB), Valve Distribution Box (VDB), and Bulk Specialty Gas System (BSGS) through Modbus TCP communication. SCADA for GDS could issues maintenance and set-point value to the gas detector while command for GMS is remote shutdown trigger.

SCADA for CMS only serves to monitor the statuses and alarms reporting for the information obtained from the CMS (third party equipment). The information are obtained using the Modbus TCP and graphics are replicated from the local control panel to the SCADA system.

Programming of Zelio Logic Smart Relay for controlling the alarm reporting responses at the local control panel. The responses are alarm indicator light, revolving light, buzzer, and flashing light. 5 possible alarms condition and 2 categories of alarms which are non-critical and critical alarms.

The creation of a quality control system for gases. Gases are pass through the Servomex analyzers and AGC NovaCHROM for the quality testing. The results of the analysis are recorded accordingly. Siemens SIMATIC PLC (S7-1200) and HMI (MTP1000) are used for the system.

Program development for the PLC and SCADA system. Involved in more than 4 projects ranging from maintenance on legacy hardware to new system development using prioprietary platform i.e. Siemens SIMATIC Step 7, ABB 800xA, AVEVA Intouch HMI, and ABB Panel Builder 800.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to carry out all programming works including but not limited to PLC system and SCADA, i.e. SQL database system setup, VS .NET programming, C/C++ programming.
  • Responsible for design, documentation and submission, site supervision, system troubleshooting and testing, and site commissioning.
    • System design consists of generation of functional specification and graphical specification which may aid in the subsequent programming effort. UML notation will be used for the design phase, for example, the UML Clas Diagram, UML Use Cases Diagram, UML Sequence Diagram, and UML Activity Diagram.
    • The generation of technical documents would also be used for submission to both the customer approval and internal ISO documentation requirement.
    • Site commissioning involves setting up and installation of the system at the customer site. Acceptance test and troubleshooting will be performed for final deployment and operation initialization which would also include operation training for the site engineers and operators.
  • Responsible for technical liaison with the sales and marketing department for after-sales support in continuous maintenance services and engineering troubleshooting.
